Timberwolves Clinch Playoffs Berth with Thrilling Comeback Victory over Clippers

Edwards, Russell Lead Charge as Minnesota Earns No. 6 Seed

The Minnesota Timberwolves have clinched their spot in the 2024 NBA Playoffs after a thrilling 118-100 comeback victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. The Timberwolves trailed by 23 points in the second half but rallied to secure their first playoff berth since 2018.

Edwards, Russell Shine in Victory

Anthony Edwards led the way for Minnesota with 33 points, while D'Angelo Russell added 24. Edwards shot 12-of-22 from the field and 4-of-8 from three-point range. Russell dished out eight assists and grabbed seven rebounds.

The Timberwolves also received key contributions from Kyle Anderson (16 points, 9 rebounds), Naz Reid (12 points), and Jaden McDaniels (11 points). The Clippers were led by Kawhi Leonard's 23 points, but their offense struggled to keep pace with Minnesota's second-half surge.

Largest Comeback in 12 Years

Minnesota's comeback was the largest in the NBA this season and the largest by the Timberwolves since February 2012. The Timberwolves trailed 71-48 with less than 10 minutes remaining in the third quarter before mounting their furious rally.

The victory was a testament to the Timberwolves' resilience and their ability to perform under pressure. Edwards and Russell were instrumental in the comeback, and their leadership will be crucial as the Timberwolves enter the playoffs.
